More About “Redemption of Eustace Scrubb”

56″ x 44″ painting in acrylic

This painting began with a borrowed photo from  Jeremy Penner, who is the Worship and Music Director at Portage Avenue Church in Winnipeg. The photo (found on Facebook) was of himself with dried mud caked on his face.

In the process, the painting morphed into a portrait of Eustace Scrubb, a beloved character in C.S. Lewis Narnia Series.  In this case, the episode is “The Voyage of the Dawntreader” where (to make a long story very short), nasty cousin of Lucy and Edmund Pevensie accidentally becomes a dragon, and is transformed back to being a boy  by Aslan after he demonstrates self-sacrifice for others.
