Following the death of my beloved husband, Darrell, it has been indeed difficult to obtain inspiration to paint again. The deadline of an upcoming showing for my work at The Cre8ery gallery here in Winnipeg was enough to help me finish some started paintings, and now I am looking forward to it.
Every year I re-watch The Lord of the Rings series of films by Peter Jackson, which were very meaningful to my first husband who died the month before the premiere of The Two Towers. Last year I had begun a new painting of Middle Earth, intending to portray it as a “satellite view”, instead of as a map. The painting is finally finished, along with four other abstracts which will also be at the Cre8ery showing in the winter. I will publish an update with the exact dates, times and location.
In the meantime, please enjoy the photos of my companion, Lovie, as she also explores my paintings – including licking my paint water and getting cobalt blue oil paint on her tail.
