Painting takes a back seat…

Well, the old storage room is getting full, and it is time to get on to a new phase. Painting will still happen occasionally, but a new chapter has begun.

Steve Bell did an appearance for an Inscribe Christian Writers Fellowship retreat in 2023, and as soon as he returned to the office he said, “Faye, you have got to join this group!” They are a fantastic group of writers who show so much love, fun and Christian spirit. So of course, I joined and attended my first retreat in September, 2024 in Calgary.

It was a balm for my soul. In recent years, I had just completed my personal memoir for the purpose of leaving it for my children. Wilma Derksen had an online course for this very thing, and it was just what I needed. My personal memoir was now complete, and I had started a second memoir to tell the stories of my paintings and books. I got two thirds through it before my darling husband suddenly passed away. All thoughts and inspiration for writing melted away.

The Inscribe retreat wasn’t only a balm, but I met many friendly writers from across Canada who had so many stories and experiences to share. They accepted me unconditionally, and by the end of the weekend, my mind was flowing with new ideas on how to finish my book.

My blog has been my secondary writing release. I am currently telling the stories of dealing with my mother’s dementia over the last years of her life, and I also write about my experiences of grief, depression and my life working with Steve Bell.

I encourage you to check out my blog at fayesfeedback.blogspot.com. I will occasionally post here as well, on my website.

THANK YOU so much for your encouragement, prayers and support!
